Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Seventy-six preterm infants with a birth weight <1500 g were recruited in the Neonatal Department of West China Second University Hospital, Sichuan University(Sichuan, China), from January 2018 to June 2018.[Functional peristalsis of the small intestine does not begin until 30 weeks gestation, and regular migrating motor complex(MMC) does not appear until 33 to 34 weeks[8]; The majority of preterm infants with a birth weight<1500 g are born at a gestational age<32 weeks; thus, these preterm infants are extremely prone to FI. These infants were enrolled after obtaining parental consent and within 24 hours after birth.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Major congenital anomalies, genetic metabolic diseases, death during hospitalization, treatment abandonment, or hospitalization for fewer than 14 days.
