Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Clinically Confirmed diagnosis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy; 2. Male or female aged between 18-75 years; 3. Ability to understand study procedures and willingness to comply with them for the entire length of the study; 4. Sign the informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. PN caused by conditions other than diabetes (e.g., alcohol abuse, chemotherapy, hereditary causes, chronic inflammatory or idiopathic PN, and others); 2. Psychiatric illnesses other than mild depression; 3. severe or unstable cardiovascular, liver, kidney, respiratory or hematological disorders; 4. Use of acupuncture during the last 3 months; 5. Pregnant or breast-feeding women; 6. Research unit personnel directly related to the study and their immediate family members; 7. Incapacity in giving informed consent or in following the study instructions due to language disturbances, serious cognitive deficits, or lack of time; 8. Current participation in other clinical studies.
