Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: For the intervention, four primary schools in the rural township of Tianyang County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were randomly selected. To ensure for the control group that students shared a similar social-economic level, teaching quality and scale, four other primary schools were randomly selected in the same township. For Grades 1st to 5th with students 6~11 years of age, each primary school had one class randomly selected.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Students were excluded if they suffering from diseases that may interfere with normal growth and development.
