Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients, aged 6 to 16 years, met Diagnostic and Statistic Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition (DSM-IV) criteria for ADHD as assessed by clinical history and confirmed by a structured interview, the Clinical Diagnostic Interview Scale (CDIS).The Chinese-Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (C-WISC) had a total score of =70. The patient had not received medication or had discontinuation of medication for ADHD for at least 1 month. The patient did not have OROS MPH or ATX for contraindications. The patient had no serious history of traumatic brain injury, nervous system diseases or other physical illnesses.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients, who had no efficacy with MPH or ATX in the past, or who were using or had ever used other psychotropic substances or central nervous system active health products (such as melatonin) within 1 month before enrollment, were excluded. Patients, who may start non-pharmacological treatment (such as psychotherapy) for ADHD at any stage during the study, or who had started within 1 month before enrollment, were also excluded.
