Ib neck dissection group:resection of primary + ipsilateral or bilateral neck dissection (level I to III)
IIb neck retention group:resection of primary + ipsilateral or bilateral neck dissection (level I to II, except level IIb)

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. The tumor must be staged in T1 or T2 according to the 8th edition of the AJCC; 2. Preoperative physical and imaging examination show no suspicious lymph nodes(cN0).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Preoperative physical and imaging examination show suspicious lymph nodes(cN>0); 2. Distant metastasis might be considered(cM1); 3. Elder patients(age>80 years old) or patients who cannot tolerate general anesthesia or surgery; 4. Patients with severe shoulder and neck dyskinesia before surgery; 5. With history of radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
