Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Sepsis group: 1. Aged =65 years male and female; 2. Patients in ICU (diagnosed with sepsis or suspected sepsis or severe infection with organ damage patients); 3. Signing of the letter of informed consent. Non-sepsis group: including non-infection patients, patients with infections.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Chronic renal failure (CRF) stage III or more 2. Severe trauma or burns 3. Repeat ICU admissions owing to same pathogeny 4. Refuse to sign informed consent and refuse to provide information.
