Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients were eligible for participation in the study if they 1. had idiopathic PD confirmed by a movement disorders specialist, according to the Parkinson's Disease Society Brain Bank criteria [8]; 2. had been receiving a stable medication regimen for a duration of = 6 weeks or were early PD patients who had no prior medication treatment and were going for their first consultation; 3. Aged 40 and 80 years; 4. had a family member or friend who was willing to participate.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Any factor that may have precluded completion of neuropsychological testing; clinically significant gastrointestinal, hepatic, renal, respiratory, or cardiovascular system disease; infection; alcoholism; drug addiction; or known hypersensitivity to celery.
