0.1 Years to 6 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged <5 years; 2. Elective cardiac surgery; 3. Surgical intervention performed with CPB, aortic; 4. cross-clamping and cardioplegic arrest; 5. Lateral Thoracotomy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients refusal; 2. Previous cardiac surgery; 3. Patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease (defined as need for dialysis); 4. Patients with known respiratory diseases (ongoing respiratory infections, asthma, COPD, OSAS); 5. Patients already intubated before arrival in operating theatre; 6. Pneumonia in the previous 30 days; 7. Previous pulmonary resection; 8. Patients with a preoperative oxygen saturation 45 mmHg; 11. Patients with hepatic disease, defined as elevated liver enzymes; 12. Patients with pulmonary hypertension (defined as preoperative; 13. estimated systolic pulmonary artery pressure >45 mmHg.
