Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with decompensated liver cirrhosis, with at least one documented episode of variceal bleeding previously; 2. Patients aged 18 years old or older; 3. Willing to participate the research and sign the informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. An incidence of GI bleeding within 5 days before recruitment; 2. Prior history of interventional therapy (TIPS), liver transplantation, splenectomy, etc; 3. Prior more than one time of endoscopic therapy for gastroesophageal varices; 4. Patients with malignancy; 5. Women in pregancy or lactation; 6. Patients resent long-term follow up.
