Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: ALS group: (1) All the ALS patients must be more than 18 years old; (2) All the subjects with ALS must be diagnosed with definite or possible ALS according to revised El Escorial. Healthy group: (1) All the healthy controls must be older than 18 years old; (2) All the healthy controls must have no other neurological diseases.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: ALS group: (1) The ALS patients have other neurological diseases including brain tumor,epilepsy, brain injury and other neurodegenerative diseases; (2) the ALS patients have entered into the end stage of the disease (the disease has involved the diaphragm). Healthy group: (1) the healthy indiviuals have other systemic diseases including hypertention, diabetes, brain tumor, epilepsy, brain injury and other neurodegenerative diseases.
