Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Women of ASA physical status 1–2 with a gestational age = 37 weeks, aged = 18 years undergoing spinal anaesthesia for elective caesarean section were included.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Women were not included if they had a contraindication to spinal anaesthesia (coagulation disorder, allergy to local anaesthetics, sepsis), medical conditions (pre-existing or new-onset cardiac disease, pre-eclampsia, neurological disorder), or if the echocardiography device or operator were unavailable. Women were not studied if it was not possible to obtain adequate quality echocardiographic images, after recruitment.
