Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) aged 18–65 years; (2) current diagnosed with one of the following somatoform disorder categories through the structured clinical interview according to DSM-IV by well-trained psychiatrists: undifferentiated somatoform disorder, somatization disorders, somatoform pain disorder, hypochondria and unspecified somatoform disorder; (3) having a total score=17 on the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale-17 (HAMD-17); and (4) able to communicate and provide voluntary written consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) had a current or past history of DSM-IV psychiatric disorder rated as severe, including psychosis or schizophrenia and bipolar disorder; (2) comorbid psychoactive medication dependence or related with mental disorder; (3) current suicide risk or HAMD suicide score =3; (4) present with severe or acute medical or neurological condition; (5) had previously received systematic cognitive behavioral therapy.
