Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients presenting to the outpatient department and referred for esophageal manometry and endoscopy and diagnosed as idiopathic achalasia were included

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) previous treatment for achalasia; (2) patients with esophageal lesions such as webs, rings, strictures or malignancy of esophagus or stomach; (3) previous history of esophageal or gastric surgeries; (4) age more than 65 years or less than 18 years old.
