Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing elective radical resection of esophageal cancer; they were older than 45 years with an American Society of Anesthesiologists status score from I to III. Extubation of trachea catheter after operation, patients who need postoperative analgesia and volunteered to participate in the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients with contraindication of epidural anesthesia (such as hypersensitivity reaction to local anesthetic, coagulation disorders, and systemic or local infection); hypersensitivity reaction to general anaesthetic; a central nervous system disease, mental illness; without normal speech communication; cardiac function III to IV, a pacemaker, liver and kidney failure, severe preoperative lung function damage and need respiratory support after operation; intraoperative blood loss greater than 20% of blood volume and those who need secondary reoperation after operation.
