Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients who underwent elective operations with an estimated duration of general anesthesia of more than 60 minutes.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) high central fever caused by cerebrovascular disease, cerebral trauma, cerebral operations, epilepsy, or acute hydrocephalus; 2) thermoregulation abnormalities (e.g.,malignant hyperthermia, neuroleptic malignant syndrome); 3) infectious fever with core temperature one week before operation higher than 38.5 degree C; or 4) history of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
