Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients who were admitted to ICU for the following reason: respiratory failure, shock, high-risk surgery or others.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: younger than 18; refusal of ultrasound examination; already being examined with ultrasound before enrolment; no informed consent; without being examined in the first 24hr in ICU; already have other types of monitoring including PiCCO or PAC.
