Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: AD patients: 1. 60 years and older; 2. AD diagnosis; 3. MMSE scores: illiterate education level = 24 points, primary school degree or above = 26 points; 4. Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) <17 (17 versions); 5. Hachinski ischemia score = 4 points; 6. CT / MRI test to exclude other types of dementia; 7. best corrected visual acuity = 0.6; 8. Informed consent from the patient or the patient's legally authorized representative (LAR). Health Control Participants: 1. 60 years and older; 2. Age matched to AD subject; 3. detailed mental tests, MMSE = 28 points; 4. best corrected visual acuity = 0.6; 5. Informed consent provided by the participants.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: AD patients: 1. Known additional neurological disease; 2. suffering from glaucoma, high myopia (refraction greater than 6D), uveitis, retinal optic neuropathy and intraocular surgery within six months and post laser photocoagulation and other diseases affecting the optic nerve; 3. refractive media turbidity such as cataract nuclear grade IV, affecting OCT imaging and choroidal thickness examination; 4. diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease; 5. suffering from degenerative central nervous system degeneration may cause optic nerve degeneration (such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis); 6. long-term smoker; 7. subjects failed to complete the EDI SD-OCT examiner. Health Control Participants: 1. Neurological degenerative diseases (such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's or Huntington's) 2. suffering from glaucoma, high myopia (refraction greater than 6D), uveitis, retinal optic neuropathy and intraocular surgery within six months and post laser photocoagulation and other diseases affecting the optic nerve; 3. refractive media turbidity such as cataract nuclear grade IV, affecting OCT imaging and choroidal thickness examination; 4. diabetes, hypertension, coronary heart disease; 5. suffering from degenerative central nervous system degeneration may cause optic nerve degeneration (such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis); 6. long-term smoker.
