Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All the patients with chronic empyema who were operated were enrolled in this study. Among them, patients who received modified operation by reserved part of visceral pleura fiberboard were enrolled in the exposed group, those who did not receive modified operation were enrolled in the non-exposed group

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: patients who have surgical approach changes or with other surgery simultaneously were be excluded
