Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children aged 3-17 years old with American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status 1 to 2 requiring perioperative sedation will be assigned to 1 of 2 groups, each with 40 children, based on the BMI percentile for age and gender (WHO, 2007). The nonobese refers to a BMI between the 25th and 84th pencentiles, and the obese refers to a BMI>95th percentile for age and gender

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children will be exluded if they have (1) ASA physical status classification =3; (2) BMI between the 85th and 94th percentiles for age and gender; (3) kidney or liver disease, hypoalbuminemia; or (4) been receiving anticonvulsants, sedatives, or medication for attention deficit disorder
