30 Years to 60 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Provide written informed consent; 2. Diagnosed pre-diabetes (WHO criteria, FPG<7.0 mmol/L, or/and 7.8mmol/L <=2hPG <=11mmol/L); 3. Aged 30-60yrs; 4. BMI 18kg to 35 kg/m2; 5. Without any antihyperglycemic drug and medication known to alter carbohydrate metabolism treatment; 6. No drug intervention for hypertension, hyperlipidemia, obesity or CVD in the last 4 weeks.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Diagnosed Diabetes; (2) Previously gastrointestinal surgery; (3) Gastrointestinal disorders and/or be on medications known to alter gastrointestinal motility; (4) Any condition where increased gas in the intestine may make it worse, such as Roemheld syndrome, large hernia, intestinal obstruction and intestinal ulcer; (5) Moderate to severe liver, kidney dysfunction, ie ALT/AST > 2.5 times upper limit of the normal range or Ccr<25ml/min; (6) Previously allergic reaction to any of the ingredients of acarbose; (7) Any other condition or major systemic diseases that the investigator feels would interfere with trial participation or evaluation of results.
