The dexamethasone group:Intravenous administration of 10mg dexamethasone 1

The control group:Intravenous administration of 10mg dexamethasone 1

Eligibility

Age

65 Years to 85 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with ASA II-III aged 65 or older who underwent gastrointestinal surgery were included.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Preoperative mini-mental state examination (MMSE) scores less than 23, neurological or psychiatric disease, drug dependence, alcoholism, abnormal renal or hepatic function, cardiovascular disease, chronic glucocorticoid intake, unwillingness to comply with the study protocol, inability to understand the language used, visual and auditory dysfunction and allergy to study medications.
