Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (i) meeting the DSM-IV standard for dementia as diagnosed by psychiatrists or neurologists; (ii) scoring 35 or above on the long form of the Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory (CMAI), which was defined as severe agitation; (iii) expecting to be present in the long-term care facility every Monday to Friday during the period of the study; and (iv) possessing no broken skin or infection surrounding the acupoints.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. participants don't meet the inclusion criteria 2. participants or family can't sign the informed consent forms
