Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with American Society Anesthesiologists physical status I–II, aged 25-75 scheduled for elective lumbar vertebral surgery under general anaesthesia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included pathology of the neck, high risk of pulmonary aspiration of gastric contents, known or predicted difficult airway, obesity (BMI > 35 kg.m2), surgery anticipated to last >3h, reduced lung compliance, and limited mouth opening.
