Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Recruited hypoxemia: 1. Adults who were undergoing respiratory failure in icu; 2. critically ill patients requiring emergency tracheal intubation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who can not achieve ventilation with a mask or who was experiencing cardiac arrest were excluded from the study.
