Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Of all maxillary anterior teeth, there shall be at lest 1-2 early caries on smooth surfaces (demineralized but not cavitated, according to Nyvad et al, 1999). Subjects shall be in sound physical conditions without systemic diseases. Subjects, aged between 8 and 13, shall have at least 4 maxillary anterior teeth (3-3). Subjects can take a 16-week clinic study. Subjects can understand test requirements, and agree to chew gums and use toothpastes and toothbrushes provided.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Those using fluoride mouthrinse; taking medicine in long term due to chronic diseases; wearing fixed orthodontic appliances; having severe congenital maxillofacial malformations; having taken other clinic studies during last 2 months; having primary teeth, permanent teeth not fully erupted, fixed artificial teeth, dental fluorosis that can be seen by naked eye, tetracycline stained teeth, or enamel hypoplasia; or allergic to gum substances or using gums.
