Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: One hundred patients aged 20-60 years, ASA II-III, with hypertension according to the World Health Organization criteria (systolic blood pressure (SBP) >=160 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure (DBP) >=90 mmHg), undergoing noncardiac surgery were enrolled in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: ASA grade IV or greater; gastro-oesophageal reflux; obesity (body mass index >30); anticipated difficulty airway face mask maintenance or intubation (over twice attempt of intubation); myocardial infarction (< 6 months); Heart function grade III or greater; congestive cardiac failure.
