Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients over the age of 18 years; 2. Clinical suspicion of acute uncomplicated appendicitis; 3. Clinical diagnostic criteria of acute uncomplicated appendicitis: (1) Patients with Alvarado scores above 5; (2) CT scan determines acute uncomplicated appendicitis: -Clear visualization of the appendix with diameter above 6 mm (essential criterion) -With or without: 1) peri-appendiceal fat stranding; 2) appendicolith(s); 3) the wall of periappendiceal bowel become thicker (cecum >4 mm, ileum >2 mm) -Absence any of the following items of complicated appendicitis: 1) extraluminal air; 2) periappendiceal fluid; 3) disseminated intraperitoneal fluid.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (1) Children under the age of 18 years; (2) Pregnant women or lactating women; (3) Patients with past history of IBD (including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis); (4) Long-time use of hormone therapy or anticoagulant therapy; (5) Renal insufficiency (Blood creatinine > 200 µmol/L); (6) Patients refused to sign the informed consent; (7) Patients with a life expectancy less than 6 month; (8) Patients who can be determined with acute complicated appendicitis by CT scan; (9) Patient who has took part in other studies that can affect results of the present study.
