Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged between 40 and 80 years; 2. with an American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) status I or II; 3. a diagnosis histological of colorectal carcinoma; 4. without evidence of metastasis; 5. willing to undergo laparoscopic colorectal resection.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. contraindication of laparoscopic surgery (e.g. extensive intra-abdominal adhesion); 2. emergency surgery; 3. with evidence of bowel ileus before surgery; 4. masse unable to resect because of invasion of vital vessels or apparatus; 5. a planned stoma (e.g. abdominoperineal resection of rectal carcinoma, protective ileal stoma).
