Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients with copd and mild to moderate respiratory failure with ph 7.30 to 7.20

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: informat consens dinied haemodynamic instability kelly neurological scale > 3 loss of consciousness less of alertness

arterial blood gas change after NIV after NIV;changes in arterial blood gases (ABG) after 1 hour and three hours of non invasive ventilation;changes in dyspnea score and evaluation of tolerability of the device (Likert five points scale);
