18 Years to 92 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. adult patients (>=18 years old); 2. mechanical ventilation for 12h or more; 3. Patients receiving full ventilator support and those whose support was being weaned were eligible; 4. Written informed consent was obtained from patients or their authorized surrogates.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. moribund state(death was perceived to be imminent); 2. refuse to accept life support; 3. continuous mechanical ventilation for 2 weeks or longer; 4. profound neurological deficits (e.g. large stroke or severe dementia); 5. any reasons caused basic SpO2<88%(e.g. arteriovenou shunt).
