Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patient with spontaneous basal ganglia hemorrhage (diagnosis according to the Guidelines for the Management of Spontaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhage(2010)); 2. Cranial CT scans revealed: hematoma volume >=30ml (intraventricular hematoma was not included); 3. Patients were admitted in 48 hours since onsets; 4. The age was between 15 to 75 years old; 5. Glasgow Coma Scale 5-12; 6. Systolic pressure >160mmHg at onset; 7. Patient has a history of hypertension; 8. Informed consent signed by patients or their relatives.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Hemorrhage resulted from intracranial aneurysm, vascular malformaions or tumor; 2. histroy of head trauma; 3. Multiple intracerebral hemorrhage; 4. History of mental disorder or neurological disorder; 5. History of coagulation disorder or anticoagulants; 6. Comorbidities including hepatic or renal dysfunction; 7. Poor compliance; 8. Pregnancy; 9. Massive hemorrhage in lateral ventricle (CT revealed that area of hemorrhage was more than 1/2 of cross sectional area of lateral ventrical), or hemorrhage in third or fourth ventrile, combined with ventricular dilation. 10. Brain herniation in terminal stage (bilateral mydriasis, respiratory and circulatory failure).
