Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: To be eligible, participants had to have ultrasound-veried polycystic ovaries with >=12 follicles 2-9mm and/or an ovarian volume of >=10 ml in one or both ovaries, together with either oligo/amenorrhea and/or clinical signs of hyperandrogenism (hirsutism or acne); And BMI>=25kg/m2.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria were any pharmacological treatment within 12 wk or breast feeding within 24 wk of entering the study. Exclusion criteria were cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, and endocrine or neoplastic causes of hyperandrogenemia, including androgen-secreting tumors, Cushing's syndrome, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, and hyperprolactinemia.
