Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: (a) age older than 18 years; (b) with CT-proven intracerebral hemorrhage within 72 hours of ictus and requiring neurosurgery; (c) had a nasogastric tube in place and baseline intragastric pH had to be lower than 4 on two consecutive determinations; (d) informed consent was obtained from each patient or their legally authorized representative.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: (a) with arteriovenous malformation, aneurysmal bleed; (b) had history of peptic ulcer; (c) were likely to swallow blood (i.e., with severe facial trauma); (d) underwent antiplatelet and anticoagulation therapy; (e) renal insufficiency requiring hemodialysis; (f) thrombocytopenia < 30,000/mL; (g) died within 72 hours after the ictus.
