Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Sixty children (ASA status I patients, aged 12 to 72 months) scheduled for elective surgery for unilateral inguinal hernia repair, were evenly and randomly assigned into two groups in a double-blinded manner.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: With a consisted of a history of developmental delay; bleeding diathesis; aspirin ingestion within the previous week; a known allergy to any of the study drugs; congenital anomaly of lower back; any signs of local infection in the caudal region; systemic disease; and common cold.
