Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: American Society of Anaesthesiologists physical status I–II patients, aged 20-70 yr, undergoing thyroid surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: preoperative sore throat, upper respiratory tract infection, common cold, anticipated difficult intubation and first attempt failed laryngoscopy
