Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Confirmed diagnosis of cervical spondylosis (CS) in accordance with the diagnostic criteria published by Chinese Medical Association and referring to the ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases, 10 editions) [16] codes: M47.2 (Other spondylosis with radiculopathy), M47.8 (Other spondylosis?Cervical spondylosis), M47.0+G99.2* (Anterior spinal and vertebral artery compression syndromes); 2. Neck pain is the chief complaint; 3. Neck pain and neck stiffness occurs more than 1 time every month, and the symptoms have lasted for more than 3 months; 4. Pain intensity is more than 3 points measured by visual analog scale (VAS) when the patient is recruited; 5. CS diagnosis is supported by cervical radiographic examination such as X-ray at anteroposterior and lateral, or cervical spine degeneration or cervical disc herniation detected by MRI or CT scan; 6. Male and female ages from 18 to 60 years; 7. Not treated by acupuncture within the latest 3 months; 8. Volunteering to participant the trial and sign an informed consent document.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: ? Confirmed diagnosis of spondylogenic compression of spinal cord referring to the ICD-10 [16] code: M47.1+G99.2*. ? Complicating with severe systematic diseases such as diabetes mellitus, cardio-cerebrovescular disorders, tumor etc., or considered as not suitable to participate the trial by the researchers. ? History of neck trauma, cervical fracture, or cervical surgery, with neurologic impairment (e.g. myasthenia or abnormal spinal nerve reflex), with congenital spinal abnormality, or diagnosis of systemic diseases of bones or joints. ? Rejecting or fear of acupuncture treatments. ? Pregnant or lactation period women. ? CS patients treated by any kind of acupuncture within the latest 3 months. ? CS patients receiving other treatments (medicine or non-medicine). ? Refusing to signed the informed consent document, or protocol noncompliance.
