68 Years to 83 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) age of 60 years or more; (2) an intertrochanteric fracture amenable to satisfactorily reduction (type AO/OTA 31.A1-A2, Evans type1); (3) ability to ambulate independently prior to the fracture with or without assistive devices.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) reversed oblique fractures (type AO/OTA 31.A3 or Evans type2); (2) non-union or pathological fractures or the presence of metastatic disease; (3) bilateral hip fractures or previous ipsilateral lower-limb surgery or contra lateral hip fracture within the last year; (4) patients who required intensive care or treatment in other departments.
