General dose:Fish oil containing a total amount of 2.8 grams long chain n-3 fatty acids
Low dose:A 1:3 mixture of fish oil to olive oil, containing a total amount of 0.7 grams long chain n-3 fatty acids
Control:Olive oil, containing no long chain n-3 fatty acids

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Women pregnant in weeks 16-24 of gestation those are planned to deliver at the collaborating hospital.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. abetes mellitus in or before pregnancy; 2. Diagnosed severe fetal malformation or hydrops in current pregnancy; 3. Suspicion in current pregnancy, or occurrence in an earlier pregnancy, of placental abruption; 4. Drug or alcohol abuse; 5. Regular intake of fish oil or of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents or other drugs with an effect on thrombocyte function or eicosanoid metabolism; 6. Allergy to fish products.
