Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adults diagnosed with acute appendicitis necessitated surgical intervention were enrolled in this study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Adults with any one of the criteria listed as following should be excluded form our study: 1) With underlying diseases who cannot tolerate an operation or have absolute contraindications to surgery; 2) obesity(BMI>28); 3) Onset of symptoms to time of intervention >72 h, or abscess formation surrounding the inflamed appendix; 4) history of previous abdominal procedures; 5) refusal of laparoscopy-assisted surgery; 6) with serious psychiatric disorders who cannot coordinate with epidural anesthesia; 7) pregnancy.
