Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Detoxified for at least 10 days, lived in Wuhan City, and met DSM- IV criteria for heroin dependence

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients were not enrolled into the study if any of the following criteria were met: (1) schizophrenia, psychosis, or organic mental disorder by DSM-IV criteria; (2) substance dependence other than heroin; (3) history of seizure disorder or head injury with loss of consciousness longer than an hour; (4) HIV positive.
