Age
18 Years to 65 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged between 18 and 65 years; 2. With the definite risk factors for acute lung injury; 3. Acute onset of ALI; 4. 200mmHg =30/min, and/or respiratory distress; 8. With indications for NIPPV juded by physicians.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. PaCO2 >50mmHg; 2. Patients should be treated with invasive ventilation through tracheal intubation or tracheotomy; 3. With difficulty in sputum coughing-up; 4. After cardiopulmonary resuscitation; 5. Severe arrhythmia or myocardial ischemia; 6. With injuries of upper airway or maxillofacial region; 7. Pneumothorax or mediastinal emphysema; 8. Severe organ insufficiency (Marshall’s scale >=3) ; 9. Obvious abdominal distension; 10. Patients that refuse the therapy by NIPPV; 11. Pregnant or breast-feeding women; 12. End stage patients (expected life span < 6 months); 13. With other conditions that prohibit the therapy determined by physicians.
