Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients suffering from primary osteoarthritis (OA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Bilateral TKA either simultaneously or staged at less than three-month intervals, diabetes, haemostatic defect, a history of peripheral vascular disease, presence of malignant tumour, preoperative level of Hb less than 10 g/l and previous thromboembolism.
