Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with office-based systolic blood pressure >= 160mmHg (or >=150 mmHg with type II diabetes mellitus) 3 or more antihypertensive medication;2. At least 18 years old.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with significant renal artery abnormalities or prior renal artery intervention; 2. Patients with estimated glomerular filtration rate < 45 mL/min/1.73m2 (MDRD formula); 3. Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus; 4. Patients with significant stenotic valvular heart disease, myocardial infarction, unstable angina, or cerebrovascular accident in the prior 6 months; 5. Patients with implantable cardioverter defibrillators in-situ; 6. Patients who are unable to give informed consent; 7. Patients who are pregnant.
