Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Schizophrenic patients with diagnosis in accordance with (CCMD-III) criteria; 2. Without a history of substance abuse (like alcohol), past or present neurological disease, or any other organic; 3. disturbance that might have interfered with the aim of the study; 4. First-episode or neuroleptic-free schizophrenics, with more than 1 month of washout; 5. No other drugs were given except benzhexol for extrapyramidal adverse effects, and alprazolam for insomnia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with hepatic or renal dysfunction or diabetes; 2. Patients with congenital long QT syndrome or arrhythmia; 3. Patients allergic to paliperidone; 4. Patients with a history of mental illness other than schizophrenia, such as epilepsy, dementia, alcoholism; 5. drug abuse, or clinically significant organic or neurological diseases; 6. Women with pregnancy, lactation or were pregnant during the study.
