Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (1) aged more than 18 years old; (2) admitted to ICU for more than 1 days, and had mechanical ventilation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) pregnancy or lactation; (2) neutropenia (white blood cell count <1000/ L or neutrophil total <500/ L); (3) HIV positive; (4) solid organ or bone marrow transplantation; (5) solid organ tumor or hematological diseases and radiotherapy or chemotherapy; (6) mechanical ventilation was greater than 3 days before ICU; (7) no mechanical ventilation after entering ICU; (8) entering ICU is less than 5 days; (9) entering the ICU for the second time; (10) the expected survival time was less than 2 days; (11) brain injury (12) glucocorticoids are not completely excluded, and the following cases should not be ruled out: 1) the dose of prednisolone (or the same dosage form) is not more than 10 mg/d; 2) the duration of exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease was 14 days longer than that of prednisolone (1mg/kg); 3) for the "shock dose" (hydrocortisone greater than 400mg/d) as a severe support. (14) antiviral drugs were used before entering ICU; (15) serum IgG negative.
