Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. non-cardiac surgery patients; 2. Aged between 60 and 85 years old; 3. Han Nationality, mother tongue is Chinese; 4. American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) grade I or II; 5. To be expected with at least 5 days of hospital stay; 6. MMSE score: illiteracy is greater than or equal to 17 points, primary school is greater than or equal to 20 points, higher secondary school is more than 24 points; 7. Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) grade 1 or 2; 8. signed informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. significant impairments of vision, hearing or motor skills (such as hemiplegia); 2. history of a clear neurological disease, mental illness or abnormal personality that precluded the ability to complete the baseline cognitive assessment, such as senile dementia, Parkinson's syndrome, multiple sclerosis, schizophrenia, depression, etc; 3. history of disease that affects cortisol levels, such as adrenal gland disease, Cushing syndrome, etc; 4. history of glucocorticoid therapy for more than 7consecutive days within 1 year; 5. history of severe physical illness and drug dependence, alcoholism; 6. unable to complete neuropsychological tests before surgery.
