Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All research centers will include the consecutive unrelated Chinese patients who were diagnosed with VTE (deep vein thrombosis and/or pulmonary embolism), no matter whether first episode or recurrent thrombosis, no matter whether following malignant tumor or other acquired risk factors. The thrombosis should be in line with: and . Briefly, the diagnosis will be based on clinical manifestations, D-dimer levels, Doppler ultrasound (for deep vein thrombosis), ventilation perfusion lung scan, and/or computed tomography angiography (for pulmonary embolism). Age- and sex-matched healthy controls without an individual or family history of VTE should be enrolled from each center in the same region during the same time window. The total number of participants in control group should be 1.2-fold of that of the case group.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients who were younger than 18 years and refused to participate in this investigation will be excluded. The kinship between patients should be recorded.
