Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: intermittent XT with exodeviation of at least 10 prism diopters (pd); corrected visual acuity was required to be 6/6 or better in each eye; Peripheral vergences were still retained.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: All cases with amblyopia, >2 diopters (D) of anisometropia, incomitance in the horizontal or vertical deviation, significant vertical deviation of >/=5pd or significant oblique muscle overactions were excluded. Cases with convergence insufficiency-type intermittent exotropia (near angle more than 10 pd greater than distance) and those with previous history of strabismus surgery or declined to participate in the study were also excluded.
