Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Case group: Type 2 diabetic retinopathy; Control group: Type 2 diabetes without DR but with type 2 diabetes duration of more than 10 years.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: People with any of the following situations were excluded from the study: peripheral vascular diseases, acute infection, systemic inflammation diseases, or any other ocular disorders such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, or branch retinal venous occlusion. Overt diabetic nephropathy patients were excluded when subjects with microalbumin creatinine ratio >30 mg/g and urinary microalbumin level>300 mg/d.
