Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with symptomatic unilateral chronic ankle instability between Aug 2012 and Jan 2014; 2. Ultrasound realved the anterior talofibular ligament and calcaneofibular ligament were completely torn; 3. long-term conservative treatment failed.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. patients with age less than 18 or more than 50 years; 2. ankle osteoarthritis.
